NASM OptiMUM Performance Training (OPT) Model

Ryan uses a structured, scientifically based program design model that integrates clients in a systematic, progressive manner using the five phases of the OPT model, progressing clients only after spending an adequate amount of time in the previous phase.

  • 1. Stabilization Endurance // used to create optimal levels of stabilization, strength and postural control
  • 2. Strength Endurance // designed to maintain control and balance while increasing the amount of stress placed on the body
  • 3. Hypertrophy Training // specific for the main adaptation of maximal muscle growth, focusing on high volume training with small amounts of rest periods
  • 4. Maximal Strength Training // focused on increasing the load placed on the body to improve rate of force production, recruitment of more motor units and motor unit synchronization
  • 5. power Training // focused on both high force and velocity to increase power
